Welcome

Thank you for visiting our website. Here you can learn more about the programs, workshops, and exhibit opportunities offered by the Park Ridge Art League (PRAL). Use the navigation bar above to begin.

Guests and new members are always welcome at our programs, which are held on the third Friday of the month (except December and January) at South Park Field House located at Talcott and Cumberland. See Programs for details about our scheduled presenters and special events.

What's New

  • The next regular meeting of the Park Ridge Art League will be Friday, May 18, 7:30 p.m., at the South Park Field House, Talcott at Cumberland in Park Ridge. Guest artist Darlene Hoekstra will demonstrate her award-winning pastel painting techniques. This will be our last meeting until September. For further details and other news, see the May 2012 PRAL NewsCard.

  • The jury form is available for artists interested in participating for the first time in our 60th annual juried fine art fair, which is held in beautiful Hodges Park in downtown Park Ridge, IL. Artists who have exhibited previously will be receive information in the mail this spring.

Park Ridge is an art conscious community that enjoys and supports our art fair.

  • Looking forward to next month's 60th Anniversary Park Ridge Art Fair, the Park Ridge Public Library is hosting a small "preview exhibit" in its second-floor display case.

The exhibit consists of original paintings and ceramics by Park Ridge Art League members whose work will be included in the upcoming PRAL Art Fair on June 16-17, along with several vintage covers of the Park Ridge Advocate featuring drawings of previous PRAL Art Fairs. The exhibit will be on display throughout May.

What's Happening

  • Volunteer artists are needed to paint large, fiberglass butterfly sculptures as part of a fundraising effort to benefit the Rainbow Hospice. (Previous promotions have involved painting fiberglass rainbows and zoo animals.) All materials—including acrylic paints, brushes, butterfly sculptures, and workspace—will be provided. Two artists may team up to paint a single sculpture. In June, the completed butterfly sculptures will be put on outdoor display throughout the Park Ridge, Mount Prospect, and Des Plaines area. To volunteer, or for further information, call Valerie Reiss at 847-685-9900.

  • Paintings by Patricia Tomeczko will be on display at the Maine Park Leisure Centeer, 2701 W. Sibley, throughout May. Due to the low number of summer visitors, there will be no PRAL exhibits at the Leisure Center in June, July, or August.

  • PRAL now has a members' Gallery on our website. Artist members can show up to four of items along with contact information and a brief statement about their work. This is a free benefit.

For more information about getting your work in the online gallery, see the Members' Gallery Information sheet.

  • Oil paintings by Diana Maxwell are now displayed on her gallery page.
